Tran Hung (D.Eng., AIT)

Remote Sensing, GIS, GeoInformatics, GeoSciences, Urban Studies, Natural Resources and Environmental Management, M&E, Procurement

Tran Hung is Co-founder and Director of GeoViet Consulting. He has more than 25 years practical, research and teaching experience in governmental, private sectors as well as in academic institutions. He has local as well as international working experiences in Russia, Japan, Thailand and Laos. His wide range of geospatial activities include geophysical engineering, geosciences, remote sensing, GPS and GIS in environmental, natural resources as well as in urban and regional planning and management. His technical expertises include data capture techniques, surveys and mapping, database management and integration, quantitative analytical methods (system analysis, statistical analysis, spatial analysis, spatial statistics and spatial modelling). During the last five years, Tran Hung has been actively involved in a number of development sector projects / programs in Vietnam. He has been conducting benchmarking, surveys and assessments, developing and analyzing comprehensive GIS databases for urban environmental planning and management, in fisheries sector as well as providing professional advice and practical tools on M&E. He is currently leading a number of capacity building initiatives including professional training in Remote sensing and GIS. Worked internationally and locally, his wide range of geospatial activities and a special interest in urban and development issues allow him to bridge planning and technical expertise and build the GeoViet’s diversified but coherent team.

Hanh Do (M.Eng., AIT)

Hanh Do is GeoViet's Chief Information Officer with more than 25 years working experiences both locally and internationally. He is specializing on system design, control engineering and database design and development with special interest in capacity building. His current works include consultancy and training in IT and database for various sectors such as banking, post, forestry and academic institutions.

Dang Van Tuyen (M.Eng., HUT)

Tuyen is the Manager of the company’s R&D GeoInformatics Department. He has 10 years working experiences in system design, software engineering and database development. Tuyen has special interest in GIS and Web development and is currently working on LiMAP - a GeoViet's WebGIS Tool - to put maps on Web for spatial information dissemination.

Soan Nguyen has 20 years experiences in the field of Geophysical Prospecting and 10 years experiences in the field of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation which deal with the issues of planning, programme and project development, programme/ project appraisal, project management, cooperation and coordination of donor's support, sector strategy support, monitoring and evaluation, and institutional and human resources development.

Alain Barbarie (Diploma in Public Administration, PhD)

M&E, Program Evaluation, S&T Policy

With thirty plus years of experience in (M&E) monitoring and evaluation, Alain Barbarie is well versed in most aspects of M&E and related disciplines. He has been involved in the design of M&E systems as well as in their review and implementation. He is familiar with Logical Frameworks and their use in M&E. He has worked on M&E issues at all levels including national and international forums. He first worked for the Federal Government of Canada from 1974 where he held various progressively more senior management positions ending his public service career in 1991 as a director of program evaluation. During that period Alain also worked internationally on developing effective evaluation approaches for R&D and S&T programs. From 1991 to 1994 Alain was Deputy Project Manager for a large CIDA project in Indonesia. Subsequently, he helped set up a national performance evaluation policy for Indonesia. Until 2000 he continued working in Indonesia as an M&E consultant. In 2000 he started work in Vietnam at MPI as Co-Director for the Vietnam-Australia Monitoring and Evaluation Strengthening Project (VAMESP). Alain has since continued to be involved in M&E work in Vietnam and he is currently a panel member hired by the UNDP to review an important M&E national project in Vietnam.

Robert Mellor (M.Sc)

Local Government Capacity Building

With nearly 28 years experience in the field, Robert Mellor combines rare practical experience with both professional and academic knowledge and also adds a creative and innovative approach to building real capacity. His expertise is the areas: local government and public administration reform, local governance, local government capacity building, training and facilitation. Robert’s work has so far been focused mostly on the countries in the Asia / Pacific region and he has built a strong knowledge and experience of local government systems and reforms in this region. Robert’s motto is “Head, Heart and Hands” – with this in mind he aims to provide a deep knowledge and thoughtfulness, along with passion and commitment, as well as an understanding of the practical realities and necessary work required to build capacity and implement sustainable change in local government.

Ha Le Chau (PhD)

Trained in environmental geology and geomatics, Ha Le has both local and international experiences in a number of projects on applying remote sensing, GIS, spatial modelling for geohazards, natural hazards mapping and management. Her special interest includes data fusion and multicriteria evaluation (MCE) in environmental impact assessment.
