Training & Capacity Building Programs
Capacity Building is one of the focus areas of GeoViet Consulting, seeking to foster a strong link with international and local educational institutions. With highly-qualified and experienced educators / trainers, GeoViet’s capacity building services are ranging from needs assessment, training design, curriculum development through to implementation of customized training and capacity building programs. Our programs are based on a well-thought combination of applied concepts, experienced approaches and practical skills training.
GeoViet provide quality, cost effective training in RS/GIS applications, data analysis as well as in popular GIS, image processing and data analysis software packages at our training suites, or at your site if preferred. All courses are currently available in Vietnamese, but training in English is also possible upon request. GeoViet
also offers on-the-job training for customers (especially for students) to
join our team in developing actual geospatial applications and gaining the
knowledge, skills and practical experience through the process.
RS Training
 Applications of Remote Sensing in Natural Resources and Environmental (NRE) Management - Overview of RS concepts, satellite imageries and interpretation, basic image processing techniques with ENVI and practical case studies of RS applications in NRE management. The full course is designed for 3-weeks and the shortened version is for 5 days.
Remote Sensing Applications in Marine and Fisheries Resources Management - Overview of RS concepts, case studies of marine and fisheries applications using RS, example projects using ENVI and RS/GIS integration. The full course is designed for 2-weeks and the shortened version is for 5 days.
Applied RS with ENVI level I - a 4-day professional course focusing on basic skills in using ENVI for NRE applications: basic functions, geometric correction, image filtering and transformation, image classification and map making. Combining with conceptual lectures, the course will provide a more complete understanding of RS in order to customize to your organization’s specific needs.
Applied RS with ENVI level II - a 5-day professional course focusing on advanced skills in using ENVI for NRE applications: pre-processing, processing workflows, advanced image analysis, indices and time series data, basic IDL. The course participants should have completed Applied RS with ENVI level I or have equivalent knowledge.
RS/GIS Applications for Hazard Risk Management
Remote Sensing Techniques for Customized NRE Applications - to be designed based on clients' needs.
GIS Training
Fundamentals of GIS - Broad overview of GIS concepts, geographical data, basic tools and functionalities with ArcGIS and practical case studies of GIS applications. The full course is designed for 3-weeks and the shortened version is for 5 days.
GIS Applications for Urban Environmental Planning and Management - a 5-day specialized course designed to provide applied GIS concepts in urban settings, planning data, and urban environmental planning exercises with hands-on sesions using ArcGIS tools, functionalities and workflows. The couse could be extended to 3 weeks to have more advanced tools in various urban planning modules.
Applications of GIS in Environmental Management - a 5-day specialized course designed to provide applied GIS concepts in enviromental management, exploring and analyzing spatially referenced environmental data using ArcGIS tools and workflows. The couse could be extended to 3 weeks to have more advanced tools in various practical environmental management exercises.
Applied GIS with ArcGIS level I - a 4-day professional course focusing on basic skills in using ArcGIS GIS for NRE applications: basic data concept, coordinate systems, data input, data query, basic GIS analytical functions, visualization and map making. Combining with conceptual lectures, the course will provide a more complete understanding of GIS in order to customize to your organization’s specific needs.
Applied GIS with ArcGIS level II - a 5-day professional course focusing on advanced skills in using ArcGIS GIS for NRE applications: advanced tools for visualizing, creating and managing geographic data, GIS workflows, geoprocessing and analysis. The course participants should have completed Applied GIS with ArcGIS level I or have equivalent GIS knowledge.

Data Analysis Training
Field Research Methods and Data Analysis in Social and Environmental Studies - a 4-day specialized course designed to provide understanding of field research methods and skills in questionnaire design, information collection, data compilation, data analysis and data interpretation in support of planning and decision making. Practical applications are provided through hands-on sessions using SPSS.
Data Analysis with SPSS - a 3-day professional course focusing on basic skills in using SPSS package for compiling and analyzing surveyed data: basic data concept, basic functions, data manipulation and exploration, tabulation and graphing, basic statistical functions. Combining with methodological classes, the course will provide a more complete understanding of SPSS-based statistical analysis in order to customize to your organization’s specific needs.
